A Zoom Primary Candidate Forum with the three primary candidates for Port Townsend City Council, Position 5 will take place on July 1 from 7:00-8:30 PM. Moderated by Janette Force, the forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters-Jefferson County and American Association of University Women-Port Townsend.
The forum will feature candidates Sky Hardesty-Thompson, Tyler Miles Vega, and Libby Urner Wennstrom. The two candidates winning the most votes in the August 3 primary will advance to the general election on November 2.
You can access the Zoom forum by computer or phone at the link below. Observers are asked to stay muted with their camera turned off so that we can focus our full attention on the candidates. Media partner KPTZ 91.9 FM will simulcast the July 1 forum and livestream it at KTPZ.org. The forum will also be recorded, edited for brevity, and eventually linked on the League’s website at lwvwa.org/Jefferson

Program: Invest in Washington Now
Washington state has the most upside-down tax system in the nation. A low-income person pays about 17% of their income in state and local taxes while a middle- income person pays about 7% and a wealthy person pays about 3%.
Invest in Washington Now is supporting Senate Bill 5096, which would install a capital gains tax on wealthy Washingtonians, and they have other ideas on reform of Washington’s tax structure.
Congressman Derek Kilmer (tentatively depending on House schedule) will discuss the current session of the House of Representatives.
