Everyone is invited to join us at a Local 20/20 Meet & Greet to learn more about who we are and how our 11 action groups are working together toward local sustainability and community resilience. There will be opportunities to learn about all of our different action groups, a variety of workshops, light refreshments, and more! We encourage individuals and organizations to come add your ideas to the mix, look for opportunities to plug in with what ignites your passions and propose new collaborations! Northwest Maritime Center to be featured at July 18 public meeting of Jefferson County Democrats

You’ve likely heard about the annual Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival, Race to Alaska and SEVENTY48. But other sailing, training and community programs of PT’s Northwest Maritime Center might not be so familiar to you and your family.

Jake Beattie, executive director of the maritime center, will share its story Thursday, July 18, at a public meeting of the Jefferson County Democrats in the Beach Club at Port Ludlow, 121 Marina View Drive. Beattie will discuss the mission and programs of the nonprofit NWMC – and its impact on the community – beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the JCD members meeting.

From Bruce Cowan, Chair, 24th LD Democrats: The 24th Legislative District Democrats will meet on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1 pm at the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Center, 1033 Old Blyn Highway, Sequim, WA, 98382. Our guest speaker Tina Podlodowski, Chair of the Washington State Democrats, will share ways we can all work together to build our bench and win in 2020.

The agenda and all relevant documents will be posted at wa24ld.com at least two weeks before the meeting. The agenda will include consideration of proposed bylaws changes. (Only PCOs may vote on bylaws).

Fire chief to describe merger process April 1 for East Jefferson Fire District, Port Townsend

The Jefferson County Democrats have invited Chief Jim Walkowski of the East Jefferson County Fire District to describe the process for expanding the three-member Fire District Commission to include two Port Townsend representatives.

Walkowski will speak at 6 p.m. Monday, April 1, during the Democrats’ general membership meeting in the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 W Valley Rd, Chimacum. The party’s business meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Walkowski will also discuss the fire district’s mission, services and service area and take part in a question-and-answer session.

During the recent general election, the fire district got overwhelming support from county and city voters, 67 percent and 69.2 percent each, for merging with the City of Port Townsend. Besides improving efficiency of service, the merger will give Port Townsend residents equal representation on the Fire District Commission.

24th LD Dems Reorganization Meeting – Save the Date: Sat. 12-8-18

The 24th Legislative District Democrats Reorganization Meeting will be held on Saturday, December 8th at the Elwha Heritage Center with a meet and greet at 12pm, followed by the reorganization meeting at 1pm. This important meeting will shape the leadership of our organization over the next two years. Member and PCO participation is vital — please join us!
The Washington State Party’s charter and bylaws require that all county and legislative district party organizations elect new officers every two years, shortly after each even-year election, a process called “reorganization”. Counties and LDs are responsible for planning and running their reorganization meetings in accordance with the State Party’s charter and bylaws. Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs), who were either elected or unopposed during the August 7, 2018 Primary, will be eligible to elect the 24th LD officers: the Chair, Vice-Chair, State Committeeman and State Committeewoman. While members are encouraged to attend and/or run for an elected position, the only members eligible to vote for these positions will be the newly elected Precinct Committee Officers who will take office on December 1. PCOs will vote by secret ballot for each of these positions. No proxy voting is allowed at a reorganization meeting.
The Chair and Vice Chair must be of different genders and the two State Committee Representatives must be of different genders. Any member of the 24th LD Democrats (defined as a Democrat within the district) can run for any of these positions and any 24th LD member can nominate someone for these positions.
